Background:
Northlands Wood is a community primary school admitting children from four to 11 years. The school was built in 1974 and extended in 1987. It is situated in the Northlands Wood Estate. It has its own playground and sports field with football and rounders pitches, running track and an adventure trail. The school has extensive facilities, which include 11 classrooms, a hall, an information technology suite, an environmental studies area and two large activity areas for art/craft and technology. There is a fully computerised library. The school offers many after-school activities including athletics, cricket, French, choir, art, hockey, chess and cross-country. In addition children can learn a range of instruments such as violin, cello and trumpet. To facilitate children's experiences the school organises a variety of visits. The school aims to provide a secure and happy environment where all children are able to achieve the highest standards in everything they do.
