Background:
Opened in 1952, the school occupies a pleasant, wooded campus-style site on the north-east edge of Crawley, with good access to the excellent local transport. It has made a major investment in ICT, which is taught as a separate subject and features in all other curriculum areas. The 'extremely wide range' of GCSE, AS and A2 options is a notable feature of the school and its extensive European links are an 'important emphasis'. PE and sport are 'further strengths'. Pupils have achieved international honours in football, judo, athletics, fencing and equestrianism. Hazelwick has one of the largest Duke of Edinburgh Award programmes of any school in West Sussex. The variety and range of performing arts is another 'distinctive feature' and the school celebrates these annually at the Hawth Theatre in Crawley.
