Background:
Felpham Community College is in the southern education area of the authority. The foundation building opened in 1974, a science block was added in 1976 and the main building opened in 1977. The Arun Leisure Centre, opened in 1978, provides extensive accommodation for music, drama and physical education. In May 1996 a new main hall, library and resource centre and sixth form centre were opened together with new science laboratories. Extensive remodelling has also provided a second computer room, a learning support centre and a new art room. The large purpose-built is at the centre of the college and easily accessible from all areas. The college has a wide range of sports clubs and teams including football, rugby, basketball, tennis, rounders, trampolining, badminton, hockey, volleyball, cricket, dance, netball, gymnastics, athletics, stoolball and weight training. The school aims to create for every student a stable, happy and caring environment within which to develop self-confidence, self-respect, tolerance and respect for others.
