Background:
Gossops Green County Middle was built in 1960 as part of the Crawley New Town expansion scheme. The main buildings consist of a block of classrooms, a science laboratory and an ICT suite and the accommodation has also been extended into two huts. The middle school is adjacent to a similarly sized first school, and the two schools are linked by a shared kitchen. Other facilities include a 'large' playing field and playgrounds. All national curriculum subjects are offered to all pupils and extra-curricular activities are centred on sports, music and the expressive arts. The school is 'closely linked with and supportive of' the local commmunity. It has an 'active' PTA, which raises funds, while pupils do 'much charity work'.
