Background:

Built in 1972, Estcots Primary is situated close to East Grinstead town centre and occupies a modern building of semi-open plan design with 'extensive' grounds and amenities. Facilities include two halls, two separate playgrounds, a willow maze, library, classrooms with adjoining resource areas and a triple mobile classroom. Computers are located in most classrooms and the network provides pupils with 'safe' access to the internet. There is a 'varied' choice of sporting activities, including football, rugby, netball and swimming, with 'many notable successes' in local tournaments and competitions. A Saturday morning football club has been established by parents and is open to pupils at the school. Key Stage 2 pupils are offered additional tuition in musical instruments, such as violin and guitar, and recorder lessons provide an after-school activity. Other after-school activities include country dancing, karate, netball, football, cross country running and athletics. Charities are selected annually by pupils and supported throughout the year and children are also encouraged to give toys to less fortunate youngsters at Christmas. Estcots Primary has good links with the local community, in particular with the church and Sackville Community College. Pupils with special educational needs (SEN) are supported by a SEN co-ordinator, two part-time teachers and a teacher's assistant. SEN resources are available in a specially-equipped room, which is used as a withdrawal room for small group work.
