Background:
Heron Way Primary School was opened in March 1969. The main building comprises eight classrooms, an Information and Communication Technology Suite, library, infant activity area and resource centre, hall and administrative accommodation. In the grounds there are three further classrooms comprising a hutted classroom and a double class unit and a Portakabin, which is used for music tuition and small group work. There are two hard surfaced playgrounds - one for Infants and one for juniors and an excellent playing field for games and recreational activities. There is a fenced conservation and environmental studies area in the grounds. A number of clubs are organised before or after school during the year. These include ICT, choir, country dancing, environmental studies, cross-country, football, netball and recorders.
