Background:
Holbrook School opened in 1992 to serve the surrounding newly-built housing estates. It has been extended five times since then and now has 14 permanent and five temporary classrooms, two halls, a library and an ICT suite. It is set in 'generous' grounds which feature a stream and 'wild' area. A 'wide range' of musical and sporting activities are offered and children compete in sports in addition to other curricular areas. Holbrook is involved in many local inter-school events such as country dancing, music festivals and sporting events. It has a 'positive link' with Evelyn Lancaster House, a local residential facility for the elderly which children visit each week and in recent years fundraising has enabled the school to donate a wheelchair, garden seat and electronic keyboard for the benefit of the residents. The children and their families participate in a 'range' of activities to raise funds for charities at home and abroad.
