Background:
St Richard's Catholic Primary School is a primary school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is five to 11. The first St. Richard's Catholic Primary School founded in the 1870's and was situated in St. Paul's Road in Chichester. This school serves our local parish of St. Richard's of Chichester, together with the parishes of St. Wilfrid's in Selsey and St. Peter's in the Witterings. The present building was built in two stages. The two downstairs classrooms were built in 1959 and the remainder of the site was completed in 1964. Further additions and changes have taken place since then, including a major extension in 2001 and additional classrooms have been built, both upstairs and downstairs. There are now eight classrooms in the school, an extensive library to enhance the children's learning, a computer suite with 16 computers, small group teaching rooms, a small kitchen area and a large hall. It also has extensive grounds, which have been developed considerably over the last few years.
