Background:
The school was founded in 1969 and opened by the queen in December of that year. It is housed in one main two-storeyed building consisting of dining, locker and teaching areas, linked by general purpose and specialist subject rooms, together with the school hall, a three-storeyed science block, a new music suite with ensemble rooms and recording studio and a sixth form centre. These enclose a landscaped quadrangle. Attached to the north east side is a suite of linked art and technology room, drama studio and the school library. The school has outstanding national performance in basketball, chess and bridge. The full national curriculum is taught and the school has special strengths in English, art, history, and psychology. The school is a Christian, quality comprehensive where students feel safe, secure and loved.
