Background:

Chesswood Middle is a co-educational school for pupils aged eight to 12 years. It was opened in June 1992 following a major building programme. The school offers excellent facilities for all subjects of the national curriculum and provides an ideal environment for pupils' learning. The classrooms are bright and very well resourced. The school has a modern library, purpose-built science laboratory, excellent computer and technology facilities and spacious music and drama studio. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards. External areas are developed to encourage good and safe play opportunities and to promote environmental science studies. The school offers a wide range of club activities during lunchtime and after-school. These include various sports and music activities, computer, gardening, rambling, cross-stitch and many more. The school also organises class or year group visits and residential visits to various locations from time to time. The school aims to ensure quality teaching and effective learning in a safe, secure and happy environment.
